The Commissar is willing to give NYT the benefit of the doubt in the question of "journalistic bias", finding public editor Okrent's defense of the paper "fairly persuasive". But Okrent also notes that the Left seems to be winning the "vileness derby" this year (big shock, yes?), citing one particularly disgusting example from the NYT's own experience. The Commissar, taking a clue from Jack at Random Fate, emphasizes that being "second worst" is no great honor, and that there is no acceptable level of abusiveness from either side, Left or Right.
